“They can come from other facilities, but more than likely they'll be coming from the hospitals because the hospitals have experienced overflow and they don't have any place to put these seniors — especially the ones with dementia,” says Gary Coppedge, CEO of Haciendas at Grace village. “They can't send them home, and they have no other place to put them. And, of course, (dementia is) what we specialize in.”
We put together an entire team of nurses and caregivers that worked only in the building housing the COVID-19 residents in order to maintain a barrier between them and our other residents.
